About Royal Enfield
Royal Enfield produced its first motorcycle in England in the year 1901, and this year 70,000 machines will roll off the production line at its factory in Chennai (formerly Madras) in Southern India where Royal Enfield is now based.
Back in 1949 Royal Enfield opened a satellite operation in Madras to manufacture its 350cc Bullet model for the Indian armed forces. When the UK factory closed its doors in 1967, the Indian plant continued to produce these Classic British Bikes.
Following its acquisition in 1995 by the Eicher Group, a significant player in the Indian automobile industry Royal Enfield has benefited from significant investment in new plant, machinery and models and now produces a great range of powerful motorcycles.
